I went ahead and bought one of these boards: free shipping desktop motherboard new X79 motherboard LGA 2011 support REG ECC server memory All solid boards-in Motherboards from Computer & Office on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

The one I bought was from amazon, and claimed SLI support. However that has proven to be 100% false, and the seller has fought me tooth and nail on it. I didn't want to link his because he is selling under false pretense. He's told me that there's a "return item" button i'm free to click on amazon. I'd stay away from NicePCman.

Aside from all that...

I loaded it with an E5 2660v2, 32gb ECC registered ram, and a single GTX980. Plugged it into my PC Power & cooling 750w psu, hooked up my 240gb ssd, and away I went.

The system is rock solid, very stable, and lightning fast. 32gb ram is more than I could ever use, but it was $60 from a dell r710 on ebay, so why not.

I bought another x79 board so I would have SLI, which means I have this board/ram sitting here by itself. So I bought a $65 E5 2650L v2 QS 10 core chip. Still waiting for it to arrive, but basically $150 for the board, $60 for 32gb ram, and $65 for 10 core cpu. I don't know what I'll do with it, but it's a lot of power for cheap.

Sadly i'll probably put it on craigslist. I have a 4 node c6100 vm cluster plus 15bay and 26bay DAS's connected to a R310 in the basement, i have all the storage and processing i'll need for a long time. i needed a gamer, that supported sli and this was supposed to be it. it wasn't and i had to rebuy pretty much everything.

Ahh I'm see, hope it is a good conversion when you sell it then. Good luck!

X99 mobo's are not terribly expensive at this point, but I imagine they will be when production stops. Takes time to copy, too.

Money.

I had a gtx980 in my x58 setup that i got a while ago, so i bought another gtx980, only to find i was cpu limited. So i already had hte two 980's, i bought the board and some ecc server ram, both were cheap, and hte board claimed sli. $200 already invested plus $150 for the second 980, i didn't want to spend $600 on a video card. So I spent $200 on an asus x79 sabertooth and 16gb ram, then spent $65 on an ES cpu. Now i have hte complete asus build with 980's, and now this board with 32gb ram and an E5 2650L 10core ES cpu.

That motherboard brings back memories of the 80's and all the clone PC, AT and XT motherboards.

Still have my first 8088 board, still works by the way

got a mATX form factor one. a lga1366 cooler fits on it, you can replace the socket latch with a standard one.
there are cheaper ones but most of them have not C602/X79 chipset and only dual channel(even if they have 4 dimm slots.

Does the bios DSDT string have SLI certification ? if not it won't run SLI.

Common question here i'm sure but does this board support ecc ram. I know it says it does, but has anyone actually verified ecc is supported and working.

Here's mine. For $115

The one big issue i have: this board sleep appears to be limited to S1 sleep... At least that's what i could only get to work in win10. The bios only have S1 sleep in suspend. I also have o enable S3 video repost. If i enable auto for acpi suspend, it would appears to enter something like s3 sleep with everything power down but on wake, it couldn't bring back the screen again. so i have to set acpi as manual in bios and enable s3 video repost. but then i could only get s1 sleep with screen off but cpu fan and psu still on.....

My bios screen looks very similar but is of later date of june 2017. but i am wondering if what you got is also only s1 sleep.. Please check the bios acpi section of your MB and let me know what kind of sleep s1 or s3 you got. thanks

Website for Chinese MB. unfortunately no link for driver download ;(

Products-Motherboard LGA2011-Shenzhen Xinlizhi technology co., LTD

Here's the chipset drivers with win10 and server 2016 I was able to pull from SM site and I installed it on my set up

Chipset_v10.1.2.77.zip
there are boards with c204 chipset instead of c602/x79. look with cpu-z or HWinfo to show what's soldered.
If you have c602/x79 chipset you can use the drivers from asrock boards.
INF driver ver9.4.0.1017 for sandy bridge CPU.
INF driver ver9.3.2.1010 for Ivy Bridge CPU.

yeah, I don't know how you can tell, but I would stay away from c204 chipset. a lot harder to get the chipset driver than for c602/x79....

The driver package I posted is even newer ;)
