Motherboard is 'jasper 12', it has a pcie slot on it, on which I have installed an old nvidia 7900gs card, driver installed, win 7 64 bit reports gfx card in device manager as all ok, no option i can see in bios to set output to pcie though, what have i missed?

Some server PCIe slots do not support graphics cards for displays. If the slot was designed for a riser card (1u/2u) it may not work.

Damn, back to the drawing board, yes it is a one u case and it would need a riser card to fit in the case. I was working on the idea of installing in an e-atx case. Looks like my cheap workstation is not going to happen. Will continue to use as a render node then.
