Few months ago, I picked up a Gigabyte RX460 2GB off Ebay for $75, it was almost like new card, no dust in the fan.

I read in Reddit that you could get around 440H/s XMR if you tweak the RX 460 card.

Today, I setup a new LGA11450 Celeron Window 10 machine.
bios mod the Gigabyte RX460 card.
Install the beta Aug 23 blockchain driver,
Ran xmr-stak , getting 415H/s ( total rig is using 110w )

5 x $75 RX 460 hasrate == 1 vega card hashrate
Unfortunately, no more cheap $75 RX 460 card on Ebay now.

Add: stock hashrate is 310H/s XMR

Interesting, up here it is possible to pick up the RX560 new for not much more than that at times so i might have to consider this

Tweak the RX 460 card with overdirveNTool

GPU_P7=1040;880
Mem_P1=1900;1000
XMR 441 H/s , power is 50w, 8.82 H/s per watt

I could made the RX 460 card to hash 455 H/s to 460 H/s , but it consumes 12w-15w more.

If you could find cheap RX 460 , it is pretty good hasrate for the value.

The main downside I see with the lower end stuff is that while the gpus are cheap, you'd need to light more platforms to get to a hash target. The upside is that the cards are already fully depreciated so you wouldn't take a huge loss if the crypto market crashes (as opposed to, say, Vegas).

I purchased the RX 460 card few months ago to drive a 4K monitor, not really intend for mining.

On the other hand, there is no Vega card available at MSRP price unless you are willing to pay over $600 to $700 each card. Assume you could still buy RX 460 or RX 560 on sale for $75 each. 5 x $75 RX 460 = $375 total for RX 460.

We geeks usually have older gen systemboard , CPU , memory lying around unused. So it doesn't take much $$ to light up the rig.

Plus side, is that you could use a 500w to 600w PS without much problem.

I won't build a mining rig today base on RX 460 or RX 560 because there is no cheap RX 460 or RX 560 now.

I is nice to know that we could tweaked RX 460 ( stock 300H/s) to 450 H/s without much effort.

Just BIN $68 RX 560 Gigabyte RX560 Gaming OC 2gb card off ebay ,
math : $68 - 10% ebay buck.

More fun later.

The RX 460 is hashing XMR away.

Nice find!!

According to Monerobenchmarks it should be good for 300h/s.

I am going to mod it like the RX 460, hopefully , it would do more than 400 H/s

Let us know how the mod goes. If you could post your current configuration you are running on your 560 that would be very helpful.

Ended up getting a low profile 460 today on ebay for about 80$ so will be interesting to see what it can do when it gets here

I have not tested it with Aeon mining yet. Only CPU mining Aeon for now. GPUs are mining XMR.

When I get the RX 560, I'll give it a go with Aeon.

I think it would only be 2x of XMR hashrate , unlike some CPU would produce 3.5x or more hashrate while mining Aeon.

More vram , may be 5 to 10 % better hashrate.
But 4GB card has price premium.

Another "cheap" card is RX 550 , waiting for the holiday to be over,
hoping more sales continue with the low end card.

Last night, BIN $60 + $5 shipping , MSI RX 550 2GT LP OC .
I think this RX 550 would do 400 H/s XMR.

I may be building a low end GPU farm slowly , if I could buy more cheap $75 cards.

I have 2 MSi RX 560 4gb, minig Ubiq currently, for giggles.

1st card does 14.3 mh/s - 2nd does 13.7 mh/s. Both BIOS modded - using MSI afterburner for settings. Both have Hynix memory, but one has a higher ASIC Quality - Both currently sit: 1050 core and 2020 memory - temps around 50 - 55 deg and around 40w each.

Great little cards, especially when you get them for $99.
