Where do you get inexpensive generic sliding 4-post rails?

unless its not dell or hp, they are all standard with 3 pins sliding on top?

I second John comment, if you want sliding rail you will have to stay with the chassis manufacture rails. If you just want a basic rail to hold your server in the rack then any universal rail kit should work just fine.

It's entirely possible that you don't. Server gear isn't cheap. The best option is to look for chassis with rails. I ran into it too, just went with the mini shelf type for one machine as I bought it before I had a rack so it was on a shelf anyway. The rails are available, but shipped they are over $100 and it wasn't worth that to me to be able to pull it out. So I just left space above the box. That worked for me as I have a 42u rack and about 10u worth of gear. Now I just only buy stuff that includes the rails or other hardware needed.
