do any switches like this exist? I only really need 2 10gBase-T ports (10Gb IN and 1 device 10Gb) , and the others can be 1Gb. I have three systems at the same location, my main workstation/desktop that I want 10GB to, and my work laptop and testbench which are fine on the 1Gb connection. My desktop has a 10GbBase-T via the ROMED8-2T motherboard, and the room is already wired with copper ethernet and all three systems already use copper ethernet (RJ45) and would be a huge pain to try to run fiber to this room. small and passive will be ideal.

I couldn't really find anything like this. I know I could use the Mikrotik 5-port, but it's all SFP+ and I'd need to spend another $150 on the SFP+ to RJ45 adapers to use the copper connections.

Maybe look at the QNAP QSW-2104-2T? It is still pretty pricey at $169 though, but at least you won't have to buy SFP+ adapters...

Hey that’s probably perfect unless someone else has a cheaper option. 2.5Gb on the other 4 ports is nice too.

I've got that switch (QNAP QSW-2104-2T) and have no complaints so far. It makes a mixed higher speed network super easy. I wish it was a little less expensive, but it does work as advertised.

FWIW, I've had the 2104-2T running for a couple of months, and just today it began failing periodically, taking down everything downstream. Unpowering, waiting a few minutes, and powering it back up brings it back online, but I'm pretty disappointed. I've submitted a ticket to QNAP, so we'll see what they say (if anything).

I didn't buy it because it was mentioned here! It was the first device I could find that fit my immediate needs, so I rolled the dice before many reviews were available.

Shame OP needs a RJ-45 10gBase-T connection. The Juniper EX3200 and EX4200 switches are cheap. The SFP+ add in module is a bit pricey, but sometimes you can find them preconfigured at a bargain. Like in the $100 USD range. Only downfall is those switches are noisy. The Juniper EX3300 series switches are even nicer but those start around $200 but also only have SFP+. The EX3300 series is quiet and has four SFP+ though.

QNAP has released a newer version of the original QSW-2104-2T switch, they refer to it as QSW-2104-2T (NEW) on their amazon.com page.

(it would be awesome if Patrick tested it!!!)

I wonder what is really new about it. I actually purchased the QSW-2104-2S May 2022 and it's been running without issue ever since. Greatly increased my Ruckus speeds.
