Hello,

First time post here. I am looking at setting up a freenas box on one of my Dell 6100 Nodes.

I ended up going for the 2.5 inch 24 bay model of the c6100. Now I have decided I want to dedicate one of the 4 nodes to freenas what are some good drive selections for this purpose?

Plans for the freenas box are to backup esxi nodes, plex, maybe some iscsi targets for VM hard drives.

If you just want bulk storage without much speed, then the old Samsung M8 1TB is a good drive, as are the Hitachi/HGST 5K1000. The Samsung M9T 2TB is a 9.5mm drive too, but out of the 4 I had, one developed bad sectors very quickly.
