I've been so focused on NVME the last couple years I need to expand some SATA storage on a couple smaller all-in-one systems, we'll be going with 2x NVME for performance\database and need 8x SSD for capacity. Looking for 1.9x to 2.xTB per-drive, SATA unless price of 3.x-4.xTB drives make sense.

What's the popular models these days for non-write intensive 4-5w enterprise SATA SSD?

Price point needs to be $100\TB or less unless brand new then maybe $105-110. Shopping on ebay and recycler sites.

You used to be able to get the 7.68TB Micron 5300 PRO's for $900 ~ 1,000 brand new but it's more difficult now since there's a shortage and inventory is slowly drying up. Still here's one on eBay: Micron 5300 PRO 7.68TB SATA 2.5" 3D TLC SSD - MTFDDAK7T6TDS-1AW1ZABYY | eBay

For used Microns - you won't see used drives go below $800 TBH (example Micron 5300 PRO TCG-OPAL 7.68TB SSD 2.5" MTFDDAK7T6TDS 7680GB sata 6gb/s edrive | eBay)

Keep away from the Micron 5210 IONs - these are QLC not TLC like the 5100 ECO/PRO and 5300 PRO

For capacity, there's quite a few Samsung PM983s floating around so even grabbing a 7.68TB one for $700 isn't out of the question - they're NVMe though

At the risk of necro'ing an 8 month old thread - it is still 2021 though for another day and a half. I've been able to recently score used 5300 pro 7.68TB < 700USD in small quantity and used 5100 ECO 7.68TB < 600USD in large quantity so the prices are cycling downward and the inventory is recharging.
Hah - so that is who purchased all those 5300 PRO's I saw on eBay :D:p
