9X 10gbps Port is a really unfortunate Configuration.

As I said, the ONTi ONT-S508CL-8S / XikeStor SKS8300-8X is fanless (though I still highly recommend to install say a 120mm/140mm fan on the side of it to lower Temperatures substantially), runs OpenWRT and Idle/Load Power Consumption is quite good.

Make sure you replace the Power Supply though, the one provided with the Device is a safety Hazard !

Any USB PD Power Supply + adapter Cable will work (15-20 EUR Extra).

At the very least I would expect 10-15W for each dual Port NIC, even at Idle / low-usage.

Eh...even the ancient...like ancient...Connectx-3 Pro dual 40gb nic adds only ~3w at idle and typically ~6-8w going full blast. I have many of these, and power readings over years, these numbers are fairly consistent.

Edit: That said, I don't think too much about the power consumption at idle, whether as a whole system or for individual parts. I don't want my systems to sit idle, I want them working. If they're not working, I don't need them.

3W at idle seems very optimistic to me but fair enough, I don't have hard Measurements. Datasheet Figures are much higher than that though. But yeah, Datasheet are not always accurate, though I would have thought that they underestimated the Power Consumption instead of overestimating it 2x.
