To anyone using or thinking about using the brtfs in RAID5 or 6 modes, this is worth a read.

Hopefully no one was thinking of doing that anyway: RAID5/6 were never claimed to be production ready. Scrub couldn't actually fix problems, failed or missing drives not handled. Even when btrfs was tagged as experimental, RAID5/6 had specific warnings of all over it.

BTRFS RAID5/6 had been mentioned as being stable recently and the warnings removed from the btrfs wiki. It is also the foundation of Rockstor (Not that I would have used something so unproven on important data without much more testing).

I'm just glad there are other alternatives like ZFS on Linux, SnapRAID, or even the old venerable mdadm.

I just wanted to make sure people were aware of this. I hope this issue doesn't bite anyone here.
