I just bought a pair of VDX 6720s with the port on-demand license so they have all 24 ports active. One came fully populated with 10Gb SR optics too so that saved a ton. The firmware is way off between the two however (fohdeesha just PM'd you) so working on getting that resolved.

I also went through a real ordeal with the 10Gb Intel x520 NICs. They seem to only support two different SFP+ modules but I used NathanA's guide to rewrite the EEPROM to accept unsupported optics and it all works great now. Thought I would share in case somebody else comes across this issue.

I have a VDX6710. Setup is easy but your best bet with Brocade brand active DAC cable for 10gb. Wont work with passive DAC. optics SPF+ is a hit or miss with third party brand. Brocade brand SPF+ module is cheap on ebay now anyway.

If you want all the ports enabled, pm me.
Also, if anyone has the latest firmware or newer than 6.0.2, i'd appreciate it very much. :)

One of the seller on EBay is trying to sell me the 10GBase-T 48 port version. Will any of these firmware and licenses work on those units? I am needing those 40Gb ports enabled to uplink to my DX010

I am not so sure you can do anything if switch has no license... I suggest just to look for switch with licenses...
