BPN-SAS2-826EL1 and X10SRH-CF

Hi all,
I am looking to build a new NAS / Pelx Server based on the Supermicro SC847E16-R1400LPB.
I have read in different places accross the net that using the build in SAS2 Expanders in conjunction with an
SAS3 Controller is asking for Trouble. All These Posts were quite dated.
Does anyone have current experience on using a SAS2 Expander and a SAS3 Controller? Specifically a BPN-SAS2-826EL1 and X10SRH-CF?

I never heard of problems with sas3 controllers and sas2 expanders

A quick google search points to the freenas forum and threads started in 2014 (1 year after the release of sas3 specification). My guess is that people had outdated firmware on the expanders or controllers. (Or defective hardware)

@i386 : Yes These were the Posts I was looking at also from 2015. So I guess the Drivers have matured by now and I should be fine...

@ude6 I have that board hooked up to a chenbro 36 port sas2 expander and it works great. No issues. Running IT firmware.

I have tried BPN-SAS2-826EL1 with a X11SSH-CTF which has an Avago 3008 HBA, which is the same as X10SRH-CF. Worked without any issues.
