I'm really hating freenas right now as the interface led to me adding a single VDEV to a Raidz2 Pool and I believe there are no ways to remove it without rebuilding the pool. I have a pool of 7 4TB SATA drives in a SA120 enclosure so I have another 5 bays I can populate drives. If I populate with 4 x 8TB drives, Raidz2, I will have 16TB of usable space which is enough to backup 13TB of data I have. Also, am I able to populate SAS drives along with SATA drives in my SA120 enclosure?

This is what I currently have in my pool:

Code:
root@nas:~ # zpool status
  pool: NAS
 state: ONLINE
  scan: scrub repaired 0 in 8 days 04:21:57 with 0 errors on Sat Aug 18 18:39:50 2018
config:

    NAME STATE READ WRITE CKSUM
    NAS ONLINE 0 0 0
      raidz2-0 ONLINE 0 0 0

And this was the offending line that added a single 8GB drive (missing the log directive):

Code:
2018-10-09.00:07:42 zpool add -f NAS /dev/gptid/fe6b3410-cb91-11e8-ac9a-000c2931f706
Please, if anyone is in the bay area willing to lend a hand, please PM me!

I could do with 3 8TB drives as I only have ~10TB of data. I'd be risking my data with one drive failure though.

Thanks!

To give some more incentive, I'll throw in an Aquantia 10G network card if I can borrow the drives.

I have 2 Brand New Seagate Enterprise 10TB SATA's sitting in my garage rack. Haven't used them yet, but they might help. I'm in Hayward, work in Santa Clara .

Whoa, thanks for the offers. 2 x 10TB has enough space for sure but I would prefer 3 or 4 drives raid with 1 or 2 drive failure when the data is being shuffled around. The plan is to meet Patrick on Monday and if I need anything else, i'll shout out.

Good seeing you and the datacenter! You are right, I'm thinking about my colocation options now. Thanks! :(
