So I didn't have any issues. I downloaded the firmware from the link supplied above. Extracted. Under Config/Image Contorl I went down to Image settings, selected boot, clicked Choose file and selected the boot image. Clicked download via browser. Did the same for the image(selected image 1 from image for transfer). Both were quick to upload then took a few minutes to successfully apply. I clicked reboot! at the bottom and after it rebooted, the webUI came back up.

Great

Whenever I tried to upload that file I was getting a message. I will post it tomorrow or maybe the day after. Obviously I'm not doing something right. But yours is surely upgraded.

As for the ports, your reply came to my email, I don;t see it here. I see ports 1 - 52 on mine.

I deleted the post since I didn't realize that the standard SFP ports weren't XGE 1-4. I do show ports 1 through 48 and ports XGE 1 - 4 for total 52.

If you click dashboard and go to switch ports it shoes XGE1 and 2 but has no module inserted for XGE 3 and 4. Pretty neat.

Can you tell me how you upgraded. I am attaching a snap of mine. I would click on the Browse button, then 'Download via Browser' and it would upload it, but then I get that green msg.

The messages from the switch are a little odd, from that message it looks to me like you didn't unzip the image package file, but, the filename refers to 6.8.16.0 ZIP which I doubt is what you downloaded(correct me if I'm wrong). Just to confirm you did unzip the G8000_RS-7.1.13.0 file right? Inside it contains a boot and OS .img file.

Just to confirm this is where you should be uploading the images.

If you've done/confirmed both of these I would try to upload the boot image first as that is what I did.

I did download 7.1.13 but did not unzip it. That is probably what I did wrong. Thanks. I will update mine tomorrow. So are both files uploaded?

Yep. This is how it shows in image management. I will upload 7.1.13 to image 2 in a little bit.

Ahh ok. So there are two files, image and boot. Why not just leave image 2 as it is? This way you can revert quickly if needed.

Great

I should have it in case you still need it.
Thanks a lot, I already got it and even flash firmware into two of my G8000s.

Considering now does it have any sense to flash the same image into both partitions. One switch still has v. 1.1.4 in image1 and had 6.8.x in image2.

Hi There

I didn't. I left different images, just in case the newer one didn't work.

One thing I was wondering, should I get more ears, for the back or would the front ears be enough to put on a rack, it is a little heavier then my other switches.

Hello,
Can someone help me out, I lost the password for this, and think the only way to reset it, is through the console cable.

I tried one of those USB cables, used to charge my daughter's kindle or phone, and it doesn't fit.

Can someone give me a link to this console cable.

Lenovo Flex System Management Serial Access Cable Kit - serial cable kit - 90Y9338
Lenovo Flex System Management Serial Access Cable 90Y9338

Part Numbers or Keywords:

· Blade Part: BN-SB-SRL-CBL

· IBM FRU/CRU: 43X0510

Except, it turns out that FRU isn’t an orderable number, and you’ll get bounced all over IBM if you’re looking for it. You do have two orderable numbers you can try:

· 90Y9338 – mini-USB B to DB9 only

· 90Y9462 – mini-USB B to DB9 and mini-USB B to RJ45 for use with a Cisco console, this is the kit that comes with the VirtualFabric switches.

* "Lenovo Flex System Serial Access Cable".

I'm not sure if that helps, but it's what I've got.
