I'm about to hyperventilate. I've got 18x 8TB's, but only 28TB free...must resist the urge to drop $3580 on 18 of these bad boys... URRRGGGH MUST RESIST

In for 8. Couldn't resist the chance to almost double the storage in my backup server (currently 8 x 8TB SMR drives).

I purchased a bunch of these at $210. I was able to get an order of 5 all refunded the $10 difference instead of just one. Via chat and the supervisor had to approve it.

what the heck... i'm really trying to stick to my "no hard drives for 2019" policy.... it's like someone knows and is trying to tempt me into buying a HDD before 2019 is over... i need to find a bamboo forest where i can meditate until this deal is over...

What kind of pools would you stick these in? Mirror or Z2? Seems pricey to get in batches of 6 for Z2 but mirrors lose the double redundancy. But also seems too large of a disk to risk a super long Z2 rebuild

I’m “trying” to use these in a NVMe cache accelerated Dual Parity Storage Space. Hoping to get writes at least in the 500 MB/Sec range, preferably around 1.2GB/Sec to sustain wire speed writes at 10gbps.

This has nothing to do with the drives themselves and everything to do with Storage Spaces treating Parity like it’s quantum physics. The drives easily hit 260MB/Sec

Previously, I wasn't great at resisting deals...until I realized that unless I used the deal instantly, the next deal I see will surpass the one I got. And this 14TB deal proves that can happen quite quickly. ;) I don't think any one of us would have expected another price drop on the 14TB so soon.

Not expected, but going off history BB did do this 2 years ago when they first released the 8TB, dropped them to $130 during the xmas deals in 2017.

So I ended up getting 4 of these through the eBay store. Will set them up in a Z2 to replace the 6x12TBs that actually haven't even arrived for me yet. Might be a downgrade in usable TBs but at a lower cost and I'm hoping by the time I need more than 28TB RAIDZ expansion would be a thing.
