I just wanted to keep some notes on what I am finding with Amazon.com: Gigabyte Radeon Rx 480 G1 Gaming 8GB GDDR5 Graphics Card (GV-RX480G1 GAMING-8GD): Computers & Accessories on Ubuntu 16.04 with kernel 4.10.1 on the Ryzen system. These are notes for myself on rawintensity settings of the AMD RX 480 mining monero with Wolf's miner.

If you want to see RX 470 results they are here Best AMD RX 470 rawintensity Monero Testing

In summary, based on the above, worksize 8 and rawintensity 1000 seems to be the best.

I have been using this for a week or so:

"threads": 1,
"rawintensity": 992,

With this results:
[13:13:38] Thread 1, GPU ID 1, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 575.47H/s
[13:13:41] Thread 0, GPU ID 0, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 552.34H/s
[13:13:41] Thread 1, GPU ID 1, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 575.51H/s
[13:13:44] Thread 0, GPU ID 0, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 566.70H/s
[13:13:45] Thread 1, GPU ID 1, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 575.46H/s
[13:13:48] Thread 0, GPU ID 0, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 566.55H/s

So I changed it to two threads and a raw intensity of 1020 and got this:

[13:19:30] Thread 0, GPU ID 0, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 33.23H/s
[13:19:30] Thread 1, GPU ID 0, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 35.16H/s
[13:19:41] Thread 2, GPU ID 1, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 31.40H/s
[13:19:41] Thread 3, GPU ID 1, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 14.24H/s
[13:20:29] Thread 0, GPU ID 0, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 35.06H/s
[13:20:29] Thread 1, GPU ID 0, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 35.33H/s
[13:20:43] Thread 2, GPU ID 1, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 32.74H/s
[13:20:43] Thread 3, GPU ID 1, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 32.74H/s

LOL, and with a completely non-responsive desktop for about %95 of the time running it, at first I thought it locked up my pc.

My two XFX RX 480's have 4 gigs of ram.

Changed it to:
Threads 1
Raw intensity 1020

And its up a little.

[14:24:07] Thread 0, GPU ID 0, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 570.30H/s
[14:24:09] Thread 1, GPU ID 1, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 577.00H/s
[14:24:10] Thread 0, GPU ID 0, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 570.17H/s
[14:24:12] Thread 1, GPU ID 1, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 576.96H/s
[14:24:14] Thread 0, GPU ID 0, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 570.24H/s
[14:24:16] Thread 1, GPU ID 1, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 577.03H/s

Maybe its a 8gig vs 4 gig thing?

Also "worksize" can make a difference.

These seem to be the best settings for my setup after playing around with threads raw intensity and worksize.

"threads": 1,
"rawintensity": 1024,
"worksize": 4

[14:58:16] Thread 0, GPU ID 0, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 572.44H/s
[14:58:17] Thread 1, GPU ID 1, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 581.33H/s
[14:58:17] Thread 0, GPU ID 0, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 572.71H/s
[14:58:19] Thread 1, GPU ID 1, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 581.98H/s
[14:58:19] Thread 0, GPU ID 0, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 572.76H/s
[14:58:21] Thread 1, GPU ID 1, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 581.25H/s
[14:58:21] Thread 0, GPU ID 0, GPU Type: Ellesmere: 572.33H/s

Are you guys profitable with this on GPUs and paying for electricity or only a fun thing?

Wondering if I can use any of my GPU chassis to cover electric cost of other servers :D

Interesting, thanks. Do you know how much power your card use with this settings?
I know mining with the 7 1700 at stock speeds and the RX 480 it is 222-230w.

You could probably optimize a bit more since there is a SATA and NVMe (U.2 2.5") in the system. You could also go down to 1 DIMM. Still not bad at 1.1KH/s.

@T_Minus Monero is up a TON today $16.74 as I type this.

Here is the cryptocompare calculator with 0 for power costs on the setup:
upload_2017-3-12_13-53-12.png

Now - being fair - if you are paying for power $16.7 XMR is basically break even at $0.35/kWh.

I use Monero mining simply to use excess data center power that I am paying for but not using. Under that assumption, the setup would almost pay for itself in a year with Monero at this level.

Monero is also very volatile. By the time I finished typing this it hit $17. I plan for around $12 XMR.

That's awesome, and a great quick break down :) appreciate it.

I need to check what our new tiers and rates are now since they changed them AGAIN! I've been meaning to look into the discounts available and qualifications for a 'farm' since we don't have a solar car this may be another way to get low rates :)

Time to explore some options! Thanks

Here is what I figured for a cheap Silicon Valley rack:
Mining Calculator Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dash and Monero

The issue is that it is using expensive XMR and does not include hardware:
$30 for 4GB RAM
$329 for Ryzen 7 1700 and cooler
$99 for ASUS motherboard
$20 for boot SSD
$110 for chassis and PSU
$200 for video card

$788 per node and you need 19 of those nodes. So really, assuming constant power/ rack costs it is 10 year payback :)

@DVD_GR using Linux which does much better. If you are using docker and xmrpool dot net pool here is the image I have been using: servethehome/monero_ryzen_xmrpool you can find instructions otherwise here Monero Mining on Linux made easy with Docker

Ryzen reports L3 cache differently. You want 8 threads. That docker image has the right thread count.

I live surrounded by a levee thats surrounded by a swamp in Louisiana. Cheap electricity, lots of mosquitoes, crazy cajun women and great food.
