Thanks to @denpa I was able to buy a Intel RS25SB008 RAID Controller - LSI 9286-8e rebrand w/ CacheVaultand I bought the AXXRPFKSSD2 CacheCade key with it

see also: great deals section
https://forums.servethehome.com/ind...roller-lsi-9286-8e-rebrand-w-cachevault.4895/

britinpdx brought up the question if this key would work with original lsi cards, as the
Intel RS25SB008 RAID Controller should be a LSI 9286-8e rebrand

Does anyone know if the AXXRPFKSSD2 CacheCade key is limited to only work with "Intel branded" cards or if it's "universal" and works with LSI 2208 based cards such as the 9271 ? (Is it just an LSI00290 HW key with an Intel sticker)
Mine arrived yesterday.
I gave it a try with my LSI 9361-8i and it was not working.

Actually it put the raid in degraded status and made the until then "unlimited" fastpath, raid 5 and raid 6 features blink red, saying they are no longer supported due to a wrong key vault.
But no harm done: After removing the hardwarekey again: Everything went back to normal.

I was really expecting this to work, because the RS25SB008 should be a LSI 9286-8e rebrand and
according to
MegaRAID CacheCade Pro 2.0 Software

the original LSI 9286-8e Physical Key Ordering Part Number LSI00290 and
the LSI 9361-8i hast the same ordering part number (LSI00290)

Anybody tried this with a LSI 2208 card?

Seems like you need a LSI2208 product:

i think the LSI version for the 9361 you would need software key instead of hardware key.

I will try it on a 2208 card here shortly. I have a handful of each.

~2 weeks from now.

Trying to get CacheCade to work on my SuperMicro motherboard with the 2208 onboard.. it's "Greyed" out.

The other options are there RAID5/6/FastPath/CacheVault... just no CacheCade.

I'm thinking I may need the software key to use the SM 2208 w/SSD Cachecade -- anyone confirm?

- Did you try using MSM v9 which allows old way of entering keys ??
- Did you try using trial key that's available anywhere on the web for LSI 9361 and IBM 5210 : JEFU1LSNSKC8L2PNP5IV567EKASKNXIAF4VN8VRZ ??

Let me know if it works for you.... it worked for me on IBM 5210 (29 days trial). Hit like if it helped.
