Asymmetric processors in a 2-socket system

With Intel Xeon Scalable in particular, is using a different processor in each socket of a 2S supported? For example, Xeon Gold in CPU0 for primary compute, and a Bronze in CPU1 just for PCIE lanes.

I don't believe so. I think you will just get beeps or some other error. Don't quote me on that but I wouldn't try unless you had hardware lying around you were willing to fry.

can anyone confirm that? seems like it would not matter at all what is in each cpu. maybe same QPI required at most.

Not how you want it to. IF it works (usually its unsupported) it'll use the clock and cores of the lowest CPU. So if you're putting a Gold in CPU0 and Bronze in CPU1 they'll both run like Bronzes. Bad idea.
