ASUS Pro WS W790E-SAGE SE + Intel Xeon Sapphire Rapids SPR-SP

Hello everyone,
I got hold of Asus Pro WS W790E-SAGE SE quite cheaply (not 100% guarantee it is functional) and now I am trying to get it to work.

I tried to test it with Xeon W3-2423 processor that I borrowed, however I did not realize that this socket does not have a tensioner frame as any other LGA seems to have and the pressure on the CPU is solely generated by the cooler, thus I performed only a rather crude test - I placed the CPU to the mounting frame, carefully placed it to the socket, took an Arctic ThreadRipper cooler, placed in on top of the CPU, just to get 00 code. Then I placed a heavy power supply (AX1600i with a cable pack) on top of the cooler which made it go past 00. I tried it with one stick of SAMSUNG M321R8GA0BB0-CQK 64GB 4800MHz, tried it in like 4 slots but in each case it gave me code 53 (incompatible memory). I got the same code when running without any memory at all. I don't know if it is due to rather crude CPU mounting, or the memory is unsupported (it's not in QVL) or the board has an issue.

Anyway, I ordered ARCTIC Freezer 4U-M Rev. 2 cooler and would like to order one of these ES CPUs to test it with. I have read quite a bit in this forum (thank you all for sharing your experiences), but still want to make sure of certain things.

What caught my attention is this offer on eBay for a QYFS: LINK - any experience with the seller? The CPU is sure cheap as hell for what it is, or should I order from someone else? Does the CPU work out of the box with any BIOS version? I know that there might be some C-state issues when installing Windows, but is there any BIOS hackery/mod necessary before mounting the CPU? Is this CPU/platform picky about the memory? Since I am in the EU, I can order and return if not compatible, any recommendations? I need something to at least test the board with, ideally a stick that has good compatibility.

I am actually surprised that this CPU, clearly intended for a different platform, works in this motherboard...

Sometimes, unplugging and reconnecting the usb keyboard works.

Normally, yes, but in this instance it does not seem to work. I can get into the bios but shortly after the keyboard stops responding. Tried multiple ports and keyboards.

I had something like that with my first QYFS boots for a while, extremely slow bios responsiveness and then stuck, and it was terrifying. Don't remember if it was with the ACE or SAGE. Then I did all of the usual emergency routine stuff: reseat cpu, reseat all memory, disconnect gpu, reset cmos, a brief sincere prayer and it worked and never came back. I hope it will disappear for you, too.

Hello, need your help again.
I have this board + w5-3435x. (Bios 1801)
I've installed 2pcs sn850x 2tb in cpu m.2 slots ( m.2_1 and m.2_2)
I've created raid1 array on VROC. (Premium key)
Vroc preOS driver 8.6
OS windows server 2022(5)
Vroc OS driver 9.2
In usual conditions all good, but if i start high I/O loads (ex. CrystalMark) system reboots (without bsod, seems as reset)
If i place this nvme's to pcie slot via card (like Glotrends PA41) both, or only one of them - all tests done as well, but if both nvme's in cpu m.2 slots io loads tests crashes.

Gent's i'm looking to swap from the QYFS on bios 0805 to a " W5-3433 QS " to make use of the 112 lanes, do I need a specific BIOS version or will the latest suffice? Any other issues?

QS is production but ES but set. expect behave like retail.
you have QS not EV-QS right ?

Are the false advertising/preying on the lack of others knowledge? or is there some easier way I can look for an Q19Y E3 without asking every seller in china

EDIT: One seller has replied stating its E1A for the mounting bracket.. This could take some time lol

the QS is labeled Q19Y which is nothing saying to most buyer, but CPU.Z shows you "W5-3433" (ES) not "0000" like at real ES.
if you see printed on the CPU

E2 is rare, but who knows if they still not show real pictures,
the reason is intel could check the original customer of that ES/QS.
it is not allowed to sell them for the original customer, he can get a contractual penalty because he signed for.
but don't worry, the 3rd party, the buyer is fine in any case. it is just a thing between intel and the orig.customer.
sometimes intel gives QS away and the customer owns the QS then and can sell them.
( e.g. to hardware tester and so on)

correct. QS are for software engineers, evaluation, tester etc. they don't have to BUY the processors.

ther is a stepping E5 one, but i don't know the QDF yet. they are usualy same price than prod.unit/retail.
