@SyKosys

Latest bios 1401 with c-state config from Gökhan Bozkurt.
CPU is a QY08 (~ 8468H) 1.7/4.0 GHz, 4 accelerators.

PCIe slot #6 shows up in the bios even when unpopulated - #2 and #4 does not.
So I put in a 9560-16i RAID controller in #6 which intergrated flawlessly meaning you can setup all the volumes from within the asus bios.

Win 11 Pro on M.2_3 and two Samsung 990 Pros in M.2_1 and M.2_2 (and some DC SSDs on both SlimSAS connectors).

No crashes or instabilites so far.

Next step will be adding an AOC-SLG4-4E4T retimer with 4 addional nvme drives and an asus Hyper M.2 x16 Gen5 with 4 ssds.
All these VROC options in the bios made me curious.

all D0 ES2 can boost half of the coure count to max. turbo, e.g. if other half is unused or disabled.
Sorry what does that actually equate to? I know that with plex encoding of subtitles and such single core speeds means more. My experience with QS/ES Xeons has been hit or miss in the past.

Thanks for the help

Hah I was curious what the turbo speeds are like for a QYFS/QYFR or QYFP. Maybe single core speeds too?
its already all there .
QYFP clocks are same than QYFP
QYFS base 1.9Ghz, (nonAVX) all core 2.8Ghz turbo 3.7Ghz(1..28C)
QYFP base 1.5Ghz, (nonAVX) all core 2.5Ghz turbo 3.3Ghz(1..24C)

Any idea what single core boost is? Any way to increase max tdp and get a little more? 3.7ghz is reasonable but not amazing

turbo clocks are fused.
3.7ghz is reasonable but not amazing
server cpu, not desktop gaming. there are ES with 4/4.1 ghz.
you can take a Xeon W?-3400X/2400X if you need more single core clock, but these boost only 1/2 cores to max.

Using this JosefHrib OP's settings, and powershell script from guru3d.com, see Get maximum Windows performance but replaced with the following code as suggested; Code:
powercfg /setacvalueindex scheme_current sub_processor IDLEDISABLE 1
I have no performance issues in windows with balanced mode with idle power of 99 watts and all cores enabled and with 3d tasks under high performance mode it will hover around 3.4 to 3.7ghz on all cores constantly

What are people running ram wise? Pretty large jump in price from DDR4 RDIMMS to DDR5...
Personally, I haven't had any problems with my desktop computer in the past few years (DDR4,DDR5).
But price DDR4 ECC vs DDR5 ECC is not good.

Around one and half year back I bought 512GB 8x64GB DDR4 ECC for my rig with Threadripper Pro 5965WX cheaper, than 128GB 8x16GB DDR5 ECC for my rig with SapphireRapids QYFS.

About problems with memory modules, so maybe I had luck, but I never had any problems (DDR4,DDR5,DDR4 ECC,DDR5 ECC).

My rig with QYFS (paired with W790 SAGE) runs without problems with 8x16GB 6000MHz CL32 RDIMM KIngston Fury Renegade Pro (total 128GB DDR5).

My previous working machine with i9-13900KS (paired with ROG Z790 Hero) worked with 4x16GB 7200MHz CL34 G.Skill Trident Z5 F5-7200J3445G16GX2-TZ5RK without problems too (total 64GB DDR5).

Same as Ex-Previous working machine with Threadripper Pro 5965WX (paired with WRX80E SAGE) with 8x64GB DDR4 3200MHz Samsung M393A8G40AB2-CWE (total 512GB DDR4).

Like my current gaming rig with i9-14900K (paired with ROG Z790 APEX) with 2x24GB 8000MHz CL40 G.Skill Trident Z5 F5-8000J4048F24GX2-TZ5RK without problems too (total 48GB DDR5).

KIngston Fury Renegade Pro: sometimes cheap on amazon.
i have some 16GB DDR5-6000s -RB type with XMP but not EXPO(-RBE)
they work fine @4800 because C741 and supermicro X13SRA-TF doesn't support XMP,
for that reason i try to sell them and go to 32GB sticks soon.

Here are my bios settings, and cpu wattage. Windows seems snappy and no performance issues. With 800mhz power is below 99w.

~€250 for 2 64gb sticks of 5600MHz 2rx4 CL46 rdimm ram is decent right? With granite rapids and its 9000MHz RAM around the corner it may all become outdated in 7 days however lol.

Oh and @RolloZ170 thanks a ton for your help with the epyc server, I ended up not going for that one as sapphire rapids is just better and even cheaper. still debating on w790 + d0 or x13sei-(t)f + an e0. e0's (q0ks/kl/kg) are being sold for 140usd on taobao and emerald rapids support is a pretty nice add-on.

There's also the third option, which is an x14 from Supermicro (strangely super cheap here) + granite QS/ES but just for comparison, does anyone know how long it took sapphire rapids before qs units started showing up at decent prices? If Intel was/is even distributing granite samples with the same volume as spr of course.

so many SPR-SP D0 ES is a unique situation.
reason was intel started silicon again from scatch.
thats too bad... we most likely wont see sub $300 let alone sub $200 prices I guess.

then if spr isnt a valid metric for availability, taking other gens/epyc into account, how long would it take for granite rapids qs units to show up at ~500? There's one x14 motherboard that is even cheaper than asus w790 boards so it's pretty damn tempting but I wouldnt be looking forward to waiting till december/january (and this may be even too optimistic).

and a few others.

I thought one of these was ready to be shipped but unfortunately they are not available yet. you can preorder them in the meantime and atminga says they'll ship as soon as they have them in stock.
lga 4710 with 6700E support and 8 ram slots, nothing too fancy but given the price for a brand new barely released sm board (650-800 eur) it's not bad.

My question remains however. I personally can't splash 600 on something just to keep it in a drawer for months, as my 2x2699v3 system is already barely holding on haha.

All three for e-core series 6700.
