No good. Silicon Valley California gets lightning once every year or two (and briefly.) Guessing that is why electronics are not designed to withstand lightning.

I wonder if the house is too well earthed.

Electrical Specs say a 1.5m steel rod in the ground, I shoved in a 6m long rod, never had issues all these years I've had the DIR-655 and the modem and lived in Lightnig central (before we built the house)
Worst thing is I used to consult for a WLAN supplier they send me a few LAN lightning arrestors :)

Living on an old Glacier Terminal morraine not helping either.
The Phone line runs 500m from the road up to the house no doubt another magnet for lightning.
I have a VDSL splitter where the phone cable comes into house, strange this didn't blow.

Oh well, old Buffalo router is not a bad one, will miss the DLink.
DrayTek modem gives me max speed both up and down, one good thing

PLX 8347 getting a full workout.

IBM M1015
IBM M5015
IBM M5016
LSI9261

All PCIe 8x

Booting in UEFI mode, quick boot, takes about 15secs to fluff about untill the Win8 logo shows

Booting in BIOS mode, takes just for ever for even the first Splash screen to show.

But impressive all 32x PCIe lanes used at once on a LGA1155 board with only 16 lanes available directly from CPU.

Yeah I've seen some UEFI boot demos in the 2-5 second range, that's power-on to desktop if add-on cards don't have to init obviously. Unfortunately the weak link right now at least for desktops is add-on graphics cards not supporting it, excepting Intel IGP's.

Waiting on EVGA and friends to produce a BIOS update for GTX600-series cards to be able to take advantage of insane UEFI bootspeeds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdOAvlncCOw

I should do a video of both as a comparison.
Difference in boot time are phenominal, no cup of tea while you wait in UEFI mode

And yes if I plug my GTX 470 in, the UEFI boot stalls and reboots in BIOS mode, 'No UEFI driver found'
So currently the i5-3470T is powering the graphics.

We can embed videos in the main site posts too :)

And unfortunately it doesn't look like anything but the 600 series will ever get this support since EVGA has stated cards 500-series and earlier don't have the bios space/capacity to support it.

At some point I'm going to have to put the Video card back in and put up with slow boots
As my website deals with Geforce driver modding, i need a card to test the drivers on :)

700 series will hopefully address UEFI

Intel have just updated their specs page on the i5-3470T, it no longer supports ECC RAM.
I won't waste anymore time on this subject.
So I just noticed this, but I recently became a victim of another CPU "downgrade"

Xeon E3 1265L V2 silently went from 4000 to 2500 in the GPU department, after being listed everywhere as the former (including the ark site) and after I bought two of them :(

Ehh... too late to return em? And what were you going to use the HD4000's for? Quicksync? Passthrough to a virtualized HTPC?
