Last year I returned a Gigabyte Motherboard because of issues with fan control and bought a replacement from ASROCK: (https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/mz32-ar0-fan-profile.41155/post-472486). I'm glad to see that someone from this community found a solution a year later ( https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/mz32-ar0-fan-profile.41155/post-506016 ).

ASROCK ROMED8-2T/BCM was definitely an improvement, but now I'm facing a different bug, with the latest bios (v4.30, 6/29/2026) and latest the BCM (03.08.00, 6/29/2026). Customer support hasn't been of any help after filing a support request and a couple of e-mails, so I'm trying my luck out here.

There is a problem with "Close Loop Control" (FAN settings) for this motherboard.
After activating a closed loop control table for specific sensors/fans, this setting only persists while the server is connected to electricity.
So if I safely turn it down during the night and unplug it from electricity, on the next boot all fans stay indefinitely at 100% RPM.

I searched online for similar issues but the "ipmitool raw" commands that worked for others didn't solve it in my case.
I found a work around to re-activate "Close Loop Control" (other than keeping it plugged to electricity 24h/7):
1 - Login to the IPMI web interface.
2 - Go to "FAN Settings", then to "Temperature Sensor and Corresponding Fan Table".
3 - Select the desired sensor, then disable "Close Loop Control Table" and select a temporary "Open Loop Control Table", then save.
4 - Keep the desired sensor selected, then enable the desired "Close Loop Control Table" and disable the temporary "Open Loop Control Table", then save.

I want to code a script that can do it automatically every time I boot my operation system.

I've been trying (without success) to use the Server Management Utility (v2.8.0) to change the corresponding fan table for specific sensors for this purpose.

I followed the user manual ( https://download.asrock.com/TSD/SMU/Manual/ASRock Rack Server Management_v2.8.0.pdf )
and I'm able to get valid returns for all of these commands (outputs at the end of this message) in Linux (Ubuntu):
../asrrmgmttool fantable_settings get -l --temperature_sensor_list -h $IPMI_HOST -u $IPMI_USER -p $IPMI_C
../asrrmgmttool fantable_settings get -h $IPMI_HOST -u $IPMI_USER -p $IPMI_C -o 1;
../asrrmgmttool fantable_settings get -h $IPMI_HOST -u $IPMI_USER -p $IPMI_C -c 1;
../asrrmgmttool fantable_settings get -h $IPMI_HOST -u $IPMI_USER -p $IPMI_C -o 2;
../asrrmgmttool fantable_settings get -h $IPMI_HOST -u $IPMI_USER -p $IPMI_C -c 2;
../asrrmgmttool fantable_settings get -h $IPMI_HOST -u $IPMI_USER -p $IPMI_C -i 48;
../asrrmgmttool fantable_settings get -h $IPMI_HOST -u $IPMI_USER -p $IPMI_C -i 49;

When I try to run the command that matters the most, I get errors:

../asrrmgmttool fantable_settings correspnding_fan -h $IPMI_HOST -u $IPMI_USER -p $IPMI_C \
--sn 48 -o 1 -c 0 -f "fan1=1 fan2=0 fan3=0 fan4=0 fan5=0 fan6=0 fan7=0"; \
sleep 5; \
../asrrmgmttool fantable_settings correspnding_fan -h $IPMI_HOST -u $IPMI_USER -p $IPMI_C \
--sn 48 -o 0 -c 1 -f "fan1=1 fan2=0 fan3=0 fan4=0 fan5=0 fan6=0 fan7=0";
Fan table settings ...correspnding_fan

Does anyone have suggestions about how to solve this?
