ASRock Rack ROMED6U-2L2T motherboard

This motherboard shows 3 mini SAS (and states these can hold 4 SATA Each) and 3 Slimeline which 2 of the 3 can hold 8 SATA each but I'm not sure about the 3rd one and I'm confused by differing reports as to how these can be used . Can these even be used as SAS or just SATA....any help on this would be appreciated. In other words I need to know how many SAS I can hook up to this.

Just the connectors are mini-SAS, slim-SAS, but the motherboard actually doesn't have a SAS controller to my knowledge, so you cannot connect SAS devices to those connectors.
