Howdy.

I'm looking to pick up one of these boards if/when the prices drop again this November. I remember reading in Will's review that he mentioned the board supporting up to 256gb DDR4 Rdimms... but there are none on the qvl. Additionally, the qvl list seems a little sparse for any of the higher memory capacity options, only having the SMART dimms for 128gb models. These seem to be quite hard to find as well. Does anyone have experience on this board (or any of the other asrock rack sp3 boards) running non-qvl memory. Specifically 128gb or 256gb Rdimms. There seem to be some no-name brands (nemix/atech) advertising compatibility on places like ebay, but I'm interested in hearing from you guys. I'd love to run 256gb Rdimms on this thing, but as there are none on the qvl and I don't want to go with them if you guys don't think it will work. I checked out the other asrock rack sp3 socket boards as well and none of them had dimms higher than 128gb on their qvls. Let me know if you guys have any experience with this!

" Flanking the socket are 4 full-size DDR4 DIMM slots, which offer up to quad-channel DDR4 support. EPYC supports 8-channel memory so a compromise is being made here since there simply is not enough room to add more memory slots. These slots currently are rated for up to 256GB LR-DIMMs, which can allow for 1TB of memory on this tiny platform. "

" With support for 256GB LRDIMMs and up to 64-core CPUs in a tiny form factor, users can build some truly tiny powerhouses. "

(both quotes are from Will's review on the servethehome website)

the memory controller is in the CPU.
you have to test any memory with any possible cpu, =impossible, so a short list.

So would I be able to run dimms outside of the qvl without issue? I think I even have a stash of 256gb Rdimms lying around.
