If anybody else also missed the great deals for the Gigabyte MC12 mainboards, this might be interesting.

~94 (with a 5€ coupon)€ for an AM4 ATX Board with IPMI (see below, the AST2510 does not offer IPMI, but should act as a "normal" VGA GPU), not bad.

Same PCB as the ASRock Rack > Server Motherboard > B550D4-4L

But with PCIE x16, x8, x8, x4 Slots (maybe electrical x16, x4, x4, x4?, the missing M.2 slots frees 4 lanes, and the B565 is similar to the B550, which I thinks provides another 10 lanes?) instead of x16+x8 (electrical x16 + x4) on the B550D4

Limited IO, only VGA, 2 USB and 1 Ethernet (should be i210, according to HW probe of ASRockRack B565D4-V1L Desktop Computer by Hetzner #bf0b5a06c9 ).

Can't find any information on this board, other then the link above, seems to be custom made for Hetzner.
Careful: According to ebay comments, doesn't support APUs!

Just bought one and will put it in a Inter-Tech 3U-K-340L, with my old 5800X together with old GPUs lying around (6800XT, 3060 12GB), a dual NVME card with pcie switch and probably a ConnectX-3, to play around with AI stuff/remote Gaming.

Very interesting. I'd be jumping on it if I didn't have a mcleo already and a
Forget that no ipmi it's nothing like the mcleo
I'm waiting for am5 versions to start showing up later this year for cheap.

If it's like ASROCK Rack B450D4U-V1LQ5, then the BIOS it's going to be a "Joy" to work with  .

Just discovered the thread on that one, is it that bad? Before i read through 40+ pages, what are the main issues?

Someone there also bought an B565D4, and it looks like it has no IMPI?

Would explain, why the HW probe lists the i210, instead of the Realtek NIC for IPMI.
So the AS2510 (instead of AS2500 on the B550D4) is only a VGA GPU, would be also fine for me, as long as I can passthrough the GPU(s)

If YOU got it, then the Seller shouldn't really deny it ... Chances are you could push a bit more ... sometimes.

Well depends what you mean by "Bad".

Many Things were bad because ASROCK decided to cheap out on a few Cents BIOS Flash Chip that was too small to fit everything in it for all CPUs, so at MOST 2 Generations are supported in the latest AGESA BIOS.

The Ryzen 2000 Series were a PITA with Rear USB Ports not working, VGA Port not working, PCIe x16 with GPU not working (defaults to bifurcation x4x4x4x4) with the BIOS as it was delivered (almost latest). After a few Days of Troubleshooting, I could get a Video Output from a GPU in the x8 Slot via a x8 to x16 Cable Riser. Cannot say that everything was working there. With previous BIOS apparently it worked better. Latest BIOS it was "working" but it's not even be officially supported I believe.

The Ryzen 5000 Series was finicky to start with. Main Issue was ECC being disabled on Ryzen 5000 Series. I needed to forcefully enable ECC Support via setup_var.efi. Other People Patched the BIOS and flashed via CH341. I'll need to do that at some Point too ... when I have some Time.

The Ryzen 3000 Series seemed to be the best all-around supported on this Motherboard, although I still needed to forcefully enable ECC Support via setup_var.efi, even though IIRC other People say it worked out of the Box.

Someone there also bought an B565D4, and it looks like it has no IMPI?

Which GPU do you want to Pass through ? The APUs are NOT supported at least on the B450D4U-V1LQ5 ... I didn't even want to start looking for Troubles, but I'm pretty sure that the GPU Traces are just not there (GPU won't be powered at all), similar to how it is on most Supermicro X10/X11 Xeon E3 v3/v5/v6 Motherboards, for instance. Cannot say for sure, but chances are that it's like that. Or even worse, the APU won't work AT ALL, whereas Xeon E3 12x5 v3/v5/v6 CPUs will work just with the iGPU being disabled.

EDIT 1: surely there were other Issues with the B450D4U-V1LQ5 Motherboard, but I cannot remember all of them unfortunately. You'll have to go through the Thread if you want to learn more. But if it's a Hetzner Motherboard, you will be on your own, as ASROCK will NOT give you any BIOS Update etc.

Good luck! Update if the seller accepts it, might cancel my order then (totally missed the offer option because I was happy about the 5€ coupon).

Other topic, why does the thread regarding the B450D4U-V1LQ5 not show up in the forum search when I search for "B565D4-V1L" (with "search titles only" disabled)? And google also didn't bring it up, the B565D4-V1L is mentioned there multiple times...

Why should it ? The Forum is not a Crystal Ball that looks into the Future. Search Function sucks as it is already ...

According to an ebay comment, the B565 also doesn't support APUs at all, which is fine, I have a 5800X lying around.
I want to passthrough 1-2 PCIe GPUs, so that should be fine.
And CPU support should also be fine in my case, as Hetzner was running them with Ryzen 5000 CPUs.

Regarding BIOS updates, another eBay comment mentioned, that they got BIOS+Manual when they asked ASROCK. So I might be lucky.

I somehow expected, it would search all posts, not only the first one, without "search titles only" enabled.
As you said, the search function sucks :D

Well if you plan to passthrough AMD Raden GPUs I have probably bad News for you: I tried to do that with my AMD Radeon 6600X but, even after trying the Vendor Reset Linux Kernel Module "Hack" (which should NOT be required for the 6000 Series GPUs), it would NOT work reliably.

On the other Hand a RTX3060 is going strong in my Virtualized Desktop running in a Proxmox VE Guest VM :D .

If somebody mentioned B565D4-V1L in the other Thread, then maybe you would have found it. I think we mentioned the B550 Gigabyte Motherboard in that Thread, but this one here (B565D4-V1L) I don't believe came up.

As long as the 3060 12GB works, I am fine, as I want to use it for local AI stuff.
The RX6800XT and remote gaming would just something to try out, as I got that one lying around also.

This post https://forums.servethehome.com/ind...rack-b450d4u-v1lq5-matx-am4.47305/post-462556 and some others, mention the B565D4-V1L exactly. That's what confused me.

I’m pretty sure this MB was discussed in the B450 thread. I’ve also seen and commented on a few posts on Reddit mentioning it.

I was curious about buying one back in spring but I figured it wasn’t worth the uncertainties since it’s an OEM board for Hetzner plus I decided to go for boards with IPMI. Would be interesting to know how the PCIe lanes are connected on it though. Probably not a bad deal if you get it for €50-70 and want AM4.

Many Things were bad because ASROCK decided to cheap out…
I don’t think we can bash on ASRock for that MB. That’s not fair. ;) It’s an OEM board made to a customers specification (Hetzner). I haven’t had any real issues with mine so far, but I do run an Ryzen 7 Pro 3700. Granted, I haven’t deployed it for 24/7 production yet and only use it as a test bench.

Did you check if ECC is enabled first of all using dmidecode or dmesg ?

Because IIRC ALSO with Ryzen 3700X I had to do the ECC "hack".

EDIT 1: other than that, apart from some **** BIOS Bug such that ASPM will NOT work (apparently SATA Controller has Agressive Power Management Setting hidden, and we need to turn that ON to get ASPM to work), I don't think it's too bad. But between that and the Fact that I haven't gotten any decent deals on CPU lately, most of those Servers have been sitting waiting for their CPU so far ...
