Did anyone try to load new 4.28 EOS train on 7050QX-32 (without S)? Please share your experience.
If everything ok , I am going to order 8G USB-DOM for new firmware.

All, I have found a large collection of EOS firmware, ranging from 4.12.11 to 4.25.1F. If anyone is in need, feel free to PM me.

Also, I have read through this thread and have acquired 2x DCS-7050QX-32S switches for my lab. One has a hardware version of 1.32, running 4.21.2.3F firmware, and the other has a hardware version of 1.10, running 4.14.4F firmware. What's odd is that the former does not show the 10G SFP interfaces in the running config, but the latter running 4.14.4F does. Thoughts there? Do I also need to perform any staged firmware updates to get to the latest supported? And what would be the latest version known to run on these? I see in post #229 that latest is 4.27.0F, but that was back in 2021. Does that still hold true?

Considering the DCS-7050QX-32S can be had for quite a low price (sub $550), and with SONiC support for even longer term software options, I'm curious why they aren't more popular. As far as performance, features and noise they don't seem to be 'worse' then say, a Brocade.

I think there are some comparsions in the forums about the different 40gbe switches. The aristas are consuming noticably more power than similar switches (eg mellanox 6036).

Good time of day. Since soon (1.5 month :) ) I will finally get my 7050QX-32S-R and 6x Noctua NF-A4X20 PWM (to replace stock ones) I have a few question.

  1. In this thread there is mention of 64-bit firmware (x86_64 arch), which is strange, since official datasheet mentions only x86 CPU (i.e. i686 arch), how so?
  2. As far as I was able to found the latest firmware available for 7050QX-32S is 4.31.1F (which I also need to find, maybe someone have it?). But I were unable to found any kind of patch notes, does someone have them? This post have EOS-4.30.3.M, but no patch notes :(

The latest I have is 4.25.1F if you want that. I have 2x 7050QX-32S switches running 4.25.1F 64-bit.

Great call. I run two of these and find the noise to be quite reasonable. But then again, I also run a Dell MX7000 chassis in the rack.

That's not bad advice, I will try software way, before using hardware solution

But I'm looking for very low-noise mod, like in case of HP 1910-48G :)

But still, how is it possible for i686 switch to have x64 firmware?

I'm not aware of any intel or amd cpus manufactured in the last decade that doesn't have 'lm' flag, (Long Mode). Which means you can run either 32 or 64 natively.
Forum experts, please let me know if anything like that exists, that was mfg since 2010, I'd be interested to learn new things about old things. I have amd and intel computers mfg in as early as 2005 that all have 'lm' flag. Some run i686 kernels, but they're all capable of booting amd64.

It's the "target"/compatibility instruction set that that the eos 32bit software is made for; it doesn't use mmx or other/newer extensions that the first pentium cpus (aka "i686") don't have

Okay, thank you very much for your information, that's answer one of my question :)
So I can just install EOS-4.28.X on my switch.

Since this notice and this post claims, that 4.29.X drops support of 7050qx-32s
