That looks nice. If you ever wanted a standard airflow one, I would always be willing to trade one :)

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind . The listing was for OBO. So I've made an offer. Hope this plays nicely with the cX3-BCBT cards that I got last month.

They're getting dumped because you can't get new FW for them. They've also got Rangeley CPUs in them so they're time bombs and you aren't getting Arista to replace the CPU on a second hand switch that is EOL.
These have an AMD chip in them. Not Rangeley.

Here's the output for the Arista 7050QX-32S model:

As was reported earlier, the "non-S" version has a similar dual core CPU (Turion)

With integrated Radeon graphics, a quad core x86 CPU, and a real version of linux, who wants to see this thing play games?

Is there a trick to getting this switch to recognize a third party QSFP+ to SFP+ breakout cable?

I have a few versions.

This one works (coded as a Cisco).

These do not.

They (I've tried two) give:
Code:
arista#show interfaces status errdisabled
   Port Name Status Reason
----------- ---------------- ----------------- ----------------
   Et2/1 errdisabled xcvr-unsupported
   Et2/2 errdisabled xcvr-unsupported
   Et2/3 errdisabled xcvr-unsupported
   Et2/4 errdisabled xcvr-unsupported
I am running:
Code:
Software image version: 4.14.5FX.2
I have tried:
Code:
[admin@arista ~]$ touch /mnt/flash/enable3px
as suggested various places but it does not appear to work.

The only other solution I have seen is getting an "unlock" code from Arista, which it sounds like won't be happening as I'm not buying a zillion $ worth of equipment from them anytime soon.

The ones I get from FS.com with asking them to code it for Arista, worked well.
They can even code it one side Arista, the other side as another vendor!

After doing this, did you try a hard power cycle (unplug from power)? That did the trick for me on a 7050S.
Affirmative. Just tried again for good measure:
Code:
arista>show interfaces status errdisabled
   Port Name Status Reason
----------- ---------------- ----------------- ----------------
   Et1/1 errdisabled xcvr-unsupported
   Et1/2 errdisabled xcvr-unsupported
   Et1/3 errdisabled xcvr-unsupported
   Et1/4 errdisabled xcvr-unsupported

Try Googling: service unsupported-transceiver arista
It may have logged a quick and dirty solution.

Hi!

I googled that, but there is always the problem, that you need an unlock code for that command and Arista does not provide it without support-contract...

And its not tied to the system/serial number, the code is based on the nonce used in that line.

Schweet. It worked. I had just assumed those would be tied to the system/serial. Gracias.

Are there any good sources for firmwares for this switch? Or what the last supported firmware version is?

Arista uses one firmware version for all switches (but some switches need a 512mb image, the others use 2gb images)

Did anyone else have a link to updated firmware for these switches? The Reddit homelab FTP is down at the moment.

I don't know if it's legal to directly link to the firmware download, but you could always use a ftp seach engine like filemare.com and search for "filetype:swi eos"
