Yes, the DOM and m.2. I purchased a 256GB m2 SSD off Amazon and it's been plugging away without issue. EOS is build on Fedora with the KVM hypervisor build in. But virtual-machines are native to EOS, there are switch level commands to spin them up and monitor them. Or you can escape to bash and configure there.

The UDIMM is ECC, which makes it really hard to find the 16GB module.
Huh. Do me a favor? Take a photo of the RAM used so I can verify the type? I am trying to figure out if I can get away with non-ECC...

Here are the RAM specs.

This is the DIMM that is in there from the manufacturer:

TriCor TRF7251U67G1600G8-MTEBP
ASMEM-00171

Which according to the manufacturer is:

TRF7251U67G1600Gx-xxxP DDR3 SDRAM UDIMM 4GB 240-pin 512Mb x72 512M x 8 Unbuffered 1.35V CL = 11 1600 MT/s PC3-12800 9 ECC Single Rank Yes

Hm. pretty sure this is the RAM you'll need for 16GB...but we'll need 3rd party verification.
I wonder if we can get registered RAM working on the GX420CA - the RAM will be so much cheaper if registered RAM are supported...(never mind, just read the AMD G-Series SoC product brief - SODIMM or UDIMMs, no RDIMMs)
So do I need the virt license to get what is essentially qemu+kvm working on EOS?

the licenses are honor based aren't they? worst case I can poke around through their python like I did for the transceivers, cough

There is no license or license key, honor based. No support contract just means no support. And I’m sure Arista wouldn’t allow any hacking like this while under a contract.

There is a code with a hash you put in the startup. If you google their site it comes up in an example config.

If you search “site:Arista.com unsupported-transceiver” it’s the first result.

Any empirical data on power consumption, particularly when partially populated? Not sure how accurate the spec sheets are on this.

Real world power usage:

Power Input Output Output
Supply Model Capacity Current Current Power Status Uptime
------ ----------- -------- ------- ------- ------ ------ ------------------
1 PWR-500AC-F 500W 0.51A 3.71A 44.6W Ok 149 days, 18:45:01
2 PWR-500AC-F 500W 0.56A 4.09A 49.9W Ok 149 days, 18:45:02

That's with 9x QSFP ports populated
And three SFP+ ports populated

Was unfortunately literally like 2 minutes late with submitting my best offer... ehh, still under half the price of other units, so i bit the bullet lol

Did have a mini panic attack when they took it down though...

as far as the missing USB DOM boot drive, made a best offer for $15 and he accepted, 4GB is plenty big to fit multiples of the latest EOS images: ATP 4GB 10-Pin Embedded USB Industrial Flash Drive Disk On Module DOM EUSB | eBay

If you can wait on china delivery, there's a lot of 16GB options for around the same price, but I'm only using the USB DOM for image storage so went with 4GB

will probably pick up a SATA DOM for the sata slot for KVM/docker storage once I make sure everything is in good order
