APC PDU - Metered vs Switched. Can I switch on/off banks on a "Metered" PDU?

Hi Guys,

Pretty simple question but I'm not able to find any reliable answer ATM. Some posts I've found seem to say that you can switch the banks on/off.

Looking at some 30A APC PDU's and ideally would like switched PDU's when/if systems hang but ones that fit my needs and are also reasonably priced seem to be hard to come by.

I'm looking at the AP7911A (switched 30A) and the AP7811 (Metered 30A). I need 16A per bank so the regular AP7911 is no good.

Question: On the AP7811, can you "switch" on/off the two outlet banks, and just not individual outlets? Or do you have absolutely no switching capacity?

Thanks all.

No - the metered only ones are just that, metered only - no switching.
Pretty common in colos so they can track and bill your total power usage if not monitoring @ the breaker / outlet.
