As mentioned in my for sale thread I'll be moving to LA for a year and while I'm excited for the change, it means no dedicated server space, so a rack is not an option and all of a sudden noise is a concern. The upside is I get to build a new server!

This will be a vSphere AIO with FreeNAS.

Here's the current parts list:

Chassis - Supermicro SC745BTQ-R1K28B-SQ
Motherboard - Supermicro X10SRH-CLN4F
CPU - Xeon E5-2650 V3
RAM - 128GB ECC DRR4
Boot - Supermicro 64GB SATA DOM
Datastore - Fusion-io ioDrive2 1.2TB
Bulk Storage - 8 x 8TB WD RED in RAIDZ2

I picked up all the new(to me) stuff this afternoon, so hopefully I can build it out this weekend.

Rack could still technically be possible. I use a startech 12u desktop rack here with short depth cases. Sits nicely in a corner of my admittedly large desk

Looking for a smaller footprint than a rack for now, although you're right there are some apartment sized racks. I've never been a big fan of servers in a Lack rack. The tower chassis gives me the footprint I want and good noise reduction without needing to spend time on any mods. Plus I got to buy something new :D

Also this is a temporary solution so I want something I can move in without much effort and that will integrate nicely with all my other gear when we move back.
