I'm rather new to this field, and was just thinking the other day what can possibly be done with just a single fiber.
While standard duplex LC is nothing new in QSFP28, simplex are quire rare to come by. Anyone has experience with those? What manufacturer?

100G PON is not a product yet (only announced as possible on 2021), is there something else ?

your not getting mixed up with single mode are you ? Still a 2 fiber solution in a datacenter.

The band interval of BIDI is very wide, so the package form can be very flexible. The more common one is 50G BIDI simplex (two RX and two TX bands)
As long as you want, BIDI can encapsulate almost all frequency bands on one interface, but this is not cost-effective. If one port fails, the entire transmission bandwidth will be disconnected.
In practical applications, more bands are divided into multiple separate SFP28 ports to avoid bandwidth loss and interruption time caused by port failure/band failure
