Anyone here tried the Xeon E5-2651 V2?

I have been thinking of getting two of these to replace my two E5-2620's in one of my boxes and to use on my open compute servers when I start to play around with the bios to allow V2 E5 Xeons.

I would think they would have about twice the mining performance of the 2620's, twice the L3, twice the cores at about %10 slower clock but thats offset by about ~%10 faster performance since its a V2.

Mining Monero with xmrig on the dual 2620 box is about 515 H/s and mining Aeon on them mines about 1900 H/s.

So with dual E5-2651 V2's mining XMR i'm guessing would be ~1025 H/s and Aeon ~ 3800 H/s.

It is tempting, I have a 6% ebay cash coupon to use today and tomorrow ( the lowest % that I have received this year).

In the mean time, I just unpack 3 x E5 v3 CPU for $285 .
I am putting the 3 CPU through stress testing for next couple days.

I am going to sleep on it , following my self impose rule to wait 24 hours before buying the v2 CPU.

Oh and the one thing that has me interested is they are about the cheapest E5 cpus with 30 MB of L3.

Its a special ordered OEM cpu, not a regular sell to everyone cpu.

Only the regular cpu's are listed on the ark.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but are you currently running Wiwynn or Quanta BIOS in your OCP nodes? Do you already have experience modifying BIOS in the manner you describe, or is it a skill you intend to acquire in the future? In the case of the former, are there any particular learning resources that you found particularly valuable? I recently contacted Wiwynn and asked them to send me the latest BIOS released for the SV7210 servers - no reply so far...

Awesome - thanks for the link. I will do a deep dive into that just as soon as I have gotten to grips with provisioning and configuring bare metal servers using Foreman.

Not E5-2651 v2
Pickup a pair of
Intel Xeon E5-2650L V2 1.7GHz SR19Y 25MB 10 Core Socket R LGA2011 CPU Processor
for $70 each = $140 - $8 ebay buck

If it doesn't work out as miner cpu , I would use the cpu in a server.
Just want to use the 6% coupon.

I looked at those also but I don't think that would be much of an upgrade over my 2620's, but they are cheap for V2's.

What kind of hash are you seeing out of the 2650L v2's? I was seeing about 650H/s in VM's

Pair of my E5-2650L v2 , slightly less than E5-2650 v1 , power saving about 30watt , 15watt per CPU

Intel S2600JF , S2600WP 4 nodes S26miner11 to S26miner14
S26miner11 is S2600JF with dual E5-2650 , L3 cache 20MB , 2 x 10 Threads , BIOS active 5 cores , 760 H/s
S26miner12 is S2600JF with dual E5-2650 , L3 cache 20MB , 2 x 10 Threads , BIOS active 5 cores , 760 H/s
S26miner13 is S2600JF with dual E5-2650 , L3 cache 20MB , 2 x 10 Threads , BIOS active 5 cores , 760 H/s
S26miner14 is S2600WP with dual E5-2650L v2 , L3 cache 25MB , 2 x 12 Threads , BIOS active 6 cores , 730 H/s
Total 760 x 3 + 730 = 3010 H/s , 686 watt , 4.4 H/s per watt

Added, I disable unused cores to reduce power usage, therefore, hashrate could be few % less than with full # of cores.

HMM, mine is still a bit low then. I will have to tweak further. Which miner are you using? baremetal or VM? Looks like maybe my 2660V1's could be better as well because they are about the same as your 2650's.

I really should give baremetal a try but it is so convenience just to clone a VM onto a new host and let it go.

Here is my Intel 4nodes dual E5-2660 v1

Intel S2600JF 4 nodes S26miner1 to S26miner4
S26miner1 is S2600JF with dual E5-2660 , L3 cache 20MB , 2 x 10 Threads , BIOS active 5 cores , 850 H/s
S26miner2 is S2600JF with dual E5-2660 , L3 cache 20MB , 2 x 10 Threads , BIOS active 5 cores , 850 H/s
S26miner3 is S2600JF with dual E5-2660 , L3 cache 20MB , 2 x 10 Threads , BIOS active 5 cores , 850 H/s
S26miner4 is S2600JF with dual E5-2660 , L3 cache 20MB , 2 x 10 Threads , BIOS active 5 cores , 850 H/s
each node is 845-850 H/s , total 850 x 4 = 3400 H/s , IPMI power is 770 , 4.4 H/s per watt

This thing has 30mb l3 cache and 12 cores but low clocks

Selling dirt cheap at $125 Intel Xeon E5-2651 V2 SR19K 12Core 24Threads 1.80GHz 30MB Socket LGA2011 CPU | eBay

Does anyone have an idea of monero or aeon performance?

V2 was the process shrink so it might be great on power and low cost to buy and setup using ddr3. Maybe @Marsh has a rack of these heating his house.
About 840 h/s. Get the e5 2660 v2. It hits 980 h/s and it is $10 cheaper on ebay.
