i.e., Intel re-branded Nevex CacheWorks.
I'm looking around at current caching software to copy commonly used files from HDD to SSD (& maybe to RAM at some point, when there is more to go around in a future build) to overcome the slowness of the platters. Essentially I'm looking for a poor man's automated tiering.
I ran across this software, and I'm not sure I've heard of it before, and it seems to be what Intel is using instead of Smart Response Technology (SRT) for Pro/Enterprise/Server/Linux applications? I'm not sure if it's free or a commercial product. I read the Wikipedia page for it. I guess SRT was scrapped for a few iterations until Optane emerged, then... discontinued and the batton passed to RST using Optane (only?).
It's not of use on the present AMD TR WS build, but about 3 times a day I tend to think "you wouldn't have this problem if you had gone Xeon instead of TR 1". Yes, I have dark thoughts.
Any recommendations or horror stories?
