Any new Supermicro motherboard on the pipe for EPYC Rome?

What MB brand would you buy for your new EPYC Rome P?

I personally don't have a use-case for it. Never claimed I had. Others definitely can make good use of it.

also just because you don't have a use case for it today doesn't mean you won't have a use case for it in the future. when i built my last nas/server it was a bit after the introduction of pci-e 3.0. I very easily could have made a build around a pci-e 2.0 motherboard and now 6+ years later I sure am glad I didn't.

I think when prices start to come down on NVMe storage in general, more and more builds will have a use case for PCIe v4.

Better to have PCIE 4.0 support of course.
But the lifetime of PCIE 4.0 may be short, as PCIE 5.0 is scheduled to be used on products by 2021.

The motherboard lineup for AMD is pretty limited. Wish things would speed up. I wonder why the lack of support.

I see Rome CPU’s for sale, but not a lot of board options, besides band aided 7001 series boards that don’t support all of the Rome 7002 features. I wonder why AMD hasn’t motivated manufacturers to release more 7002 series boards? There’s clearly a market for these boards. It’s pretty obvious something strange is maybe occurring. Intel stranglehold on the channel?

Personally I am more interested in this for a workstation. Had a 920 for years. Got the 2670s when they cost next to nothing.

Considering threadripper.

I don't think we need conspiracy theories to explain the slow reaction of motherboard manufacturers.
Let's be honest for a second, even with a healthy selection of motherboards available, AMD Epyc would not sell nearly as many units as Intel Xeon. For the motherboard manufacturers (and the retailers), this is a financial risk. They need to invest into development for these products, knowing that they will not sell nearly as many units as with Intel platforms. It is the chicken and egg problem, and it will take a few generations of decent product to resolve.

I asked supermicro about an epyc workstation motherboard today.
Here is the response:
According to the PM, there is plan to release the H12 workstation board, just no definite date when it will be released.

This is a neat Epyc 7002 board from Tyan! While I’d prefer something similar from Supermicro, it’s nice to know that a board has finally been released that checks a lot of the important feature boxes.

Another month has come and gone. I sure wish Supermicro could throw us a bone about upcoming H12 ATX/E-ATX boards.

It's strange why Supermicro has little interest in Epyc Rome than Epyc Naples even Rome performs far more better than Naples.

Supermicro does very little these days without customer demand - and they jump through hoops when a lead customer asks. So your comment would probably be better stated as:

it’s strange why Supermicro’s big customers have so little interest in Epyc Rome...
