Are there any issues with flashing Cisco UCS-RAID9271CV-8i with generic LSI firmware? I'm considering buying one to put into a Windows 10 desktop with a CacheCade 2.0 key to speed up some rust disks. I don't know what Cisco does to their controllers, but I'm a big fan of running generic LSI firmware whenever possible.

While I'm at it, are there any rebranded LSI-based cards that blowup if you re-flash them with generic firmware? I'm trying to put together a system for a friend, and later myself.

Thank you for your time people. I appreciate the help.

Hi

Did you have any luck finding an answer of try this for yourself?

I'm in the same situation regarding the UCS RAID controller and using generic drivers and firnware.

Did it work for either of you?
I was able to update the Cisco-branded card to the most recent LSI firmware for both the HBA and the CacheVault daughtercard. My friend has been using the system for the past two months without reporting any problems.

Hi all
How to flash UCS-RAID9271CV-8i with LSI Firmware???
Thanx a lot
Sorry, I don't recall the steps off the top of my head as it was two years ago the last time I did it. However, it's in the system I'm using to type this. As far as I recall, I just used the standard UEFI tools and this firmware package named "23-34-0-0019_SAS_2208_FW_IMAGE_APP_3-460-115-6465."

Version Numbers:
===============
Current Package Details:
Firmware Package: 23.34.0-0019 (MR 5.14 Point Release)
WebBIOS 6.1-76-e_76-Rel
Firmware 3.460.95-6465
ROMENV 1.08
PCLI 05.07.00
BootBlock 2.05.00.00-0010
NVDATA 2.1507.03-0162
BootBlockCommon 07.26.26.219
UEFI_Driver 0x06110200 (SIGNED)
Hii 03.17.14.04 (SIGNED)
FCODE 4.17.08.00
BIOS 5.50.03.0

It should still be available from Broadcom.

Search here on the board and TrueNAS' forums and you'll get what you need. Sorry my old memory isn't more helpful.
