Any idea what these STEC Mach8 ssds are?

Lot of 2 STEC M8PSB2 60UI GD01 MACH8 SSD Solid State Drive | eBay
$49.99 total. I'm betting these won't go for much.

Mach8 no M for MLC so SLC drives. S = SATA I think. 60 is 60GB.

So 2x SLC 60GB SATA 1 drives for $50? Does that sound correct?

looked into it and this is what I found:

Industrial grade SSD - really wide operating temperature

SATA-150 only, and the speeds quoted were 90/100MBps

So, it is early gen SSDs (and performance), but really reliable.

Those look like the drives Sun/Oracle uses for ARC on the OpenStorage ZFS platform. If they are SLC, they may have been the ZIL as well, but the systems I installed had 18GB ZIL. But that was first gen Amber Road, I'm sure they increased the capacity since then.

I have a couple of mach16 drive I purchased 1.5 - 2yrs ago....

Took me at least 1.3yrs to find firmware for them....

Yes industrial drives... Not fast compared to newer gen drives these days.... But I believe going off specs and from what I have read. The wear levelling etc algorithm's etc they should last a fair while.

One is used as a media centre boot drive

Other is in a fairly regularly used laptop.

Been running fine.
