Yea - the overall platform is still immature.

That is also the reason I got the B350 motherboard. You can PCIe x1 a video card as well if you want to pass the x16.

Plan Z: Use a Kernel compiled with the ACS override patch/hack, enable it with the most aggressive setting (pcie_acs_override=downstream,multifunction), and you will get every device in its own IOMMU Group thus making QEMU-VFIO happy, at the cost of ignoring any type of security and isolation.

Okay makes sense. So as of right now no go. I'm glad you said what you said next because my followup was going to be regarding the acs patch. So it's like a fake fix, not really isolated from a security perspective. I wanted to run a pfsense vm on proxmox and I need that x4 nic isolated as possible haha.
