With all due respect to prior work. This is the single best technical piece STH has done and by far best info out there on this subject. I'm not kidding.

I've read the articles which say much of the same but this is some standout stuff. Kudos.

It is on the longer side but it's also thorough.

Also great is that there's some effort to reduce Bottlenecks with other Players stepping up.

Examples:

4 Major Manufacturers releasing SuperCPUs: AMD Epyc, Fujitsu Spark, IBM Power9, Intel Xeon.

Tiny is good too: 4 Lane PCIe 3.0 NVMe M.2 SSDs (with 8 and 16x hopefully on the way) or the Movidius Neural Network Compute Stick.

PCIe 4.0 is out, and 5.0 is at version 0.3 .

Mellanox and Innovium have new ASICs with 400Gbps or 6.4Tbps of Ethernet switching and IP routing: http://www.mellanox.com/page/products_dyn?product_family=277&mtag=spectrum2_ic and Innovium .

Gives something to connect Skylake-F OmniPath Cables to for long distance connectivity.

In the next few years everything will be available and connectable, good times we live in (since the Vacuum Tube Computer).

There's new Slides from AMD that just came out of NDA yesterday, part of one seems to show the Infinity Fabric layout:

Probably Patrick has these and is preparing another Analysis Article.
