The seller also sells the "plastic tray for HP". I thought they were universal, but not 100% sure.
He's asking 30GBP for them.

Anyway here's the pic he sent me:

Also found out that AMD support might not be reliable for getting the carrier frame through them:

Luckily a homelabber is trying to 3rd print them. Not sure on his status.

If the guy from reddit is trustworthy, has enough skill to deliver an accurate model and still needs one frame, I'd be willing to take a share in the costs to get one frame to him...

Maybe we should start a separate thread for this?

I think he has a TR frame.. And the thingiverse frame didnt work.
He said that he'd try a new model 3 weeks ago but he never posted an update.

Either way I've sent him a message for an update and if he'd be willing to sell carriers.

TR Frame and EPYC frame should be identical though.

I'm interested in the CAD file to print my own carrier frames.

Not sure about epyc but for intel you don't need the carrier frame to use the CPU, it's just there so you aren't dropping the CPU into the socket directly.

What you DO need though is the torque wrench. Otherwise you're at risk of damaging the socket if you overtighten.

Tempted to order 2, the minute a deal like this shows up here all the CPUs are gone and I regret it.

You don't need the carrier frame at all. In most of our systems we don't have them- just seat the cpu carefully and you're good.

By this you mean we group together the 30GBP and have this Ebay seller ship a tray to him? Or do you have a separate tray laying around that you'll send to him?

Either way he didn't have time so it's not done yet. He's hoping to finish it this weekend and that it will be good enough.
I am a bit clueless about 3D printing/modelling so I asked him how he's making it and if he needs any help. Also told him you'd like a CAD file in the end.

My order will be delivered on monday, just trying to get a mobo sorted out now.

Nice, the guy from Reddit is also making it in Fusion and prints it in carbon fiber polycarbonaten.
He already has a couple of trays for his Epyc cpu's so should be perfect.

It arrived yesterday in a nice little box. Just need a mobo at the moment. Did find a Supermicro H12SSW for around €250 but it's only for the Epyc 7002 series:( . And it has an odd (proprietary)WIO form factor.

Yeah mine arrived yesterday. Two neat little boxes.

I'm waiting for the Supermicro H12DSi or the AsRock ROME2D16-2T, as the Gigabyte Board only supports 7002 apparently...

Great, mine has been arrived today, too, an hour ago. Very well packaged safe paperbox with a lot of air bubbles plastic bag. The cpu is brand new in original oem antistatic bag.

Congrats for the motherboard. :)

But the H12DSi doesn't support Epyc 7001 either right?

Haven't bought it yet. Hoping it doesn't sell if it does support the 7551

The H12DSi is not even publicly announced yet, the AsRock ROME2D16-2T is listed in their catalogue, but not available.
Given that the AsRock ROME8-2T supports 7001 and 7002, I think the chances are pretty good that the ROME2D16-2T will too.

Just called their tech support. It will definitely not work(epyc7001 in H12). So I think the H12DSi will also not work with an Epyc 7001.
He did say that the H12 boards will probably get an Agesa upgrade to support the upcoming Milan release.
I think similar to some H11(rev2) boards supporting Epyc 7002.

Bit bummed out seeing as the seller accepted €225 for the H12 board and it's the only 2nd hand SP3 board in my country atm:confused:.
