In the end, the engineers couldn't fix it.
Even though all that had to be done was desolder three chips and solder new ones.
SM refuses to admit its mistakes
In this MOBO series, the BMC can malfunction for no apparent reason.

Just got a combo from @Tugm4470 EPYC 7452+Supermicro H12SSL-i based on comments here, did not disappoint got it all setup and waiting on some final cables to hook up to my 60 drive netapp. Quick shipping.

Dear friends, currently the price of H12SSL-I in China has risen too high. I recommend using the Tyans8030 motherboard, which has almost the same performance as H12SSL-I, but the price of Tyans8030 has not increased yet

The problem with this is that I think Tyan, Gigabyte, and others (not Supermicro and ASRock) did not backport ReBAR to their BIOS, so if you have DDR4 ram, and are looking for PCIE lanes, SM and ASRock is probably your only choice if you are running half recent video cards for rendering, or others. I know both my newish video cards (Intel and Nvidia) require ReBAR. So be careful.

i have added ReBar to gigabyte BIOS successfully many times. it is not rocket science.
i have modified Tyan BIOS, so add. ReBar should be possible there too.

I consider myself a tinkerer and I looked at the gigabyte patches on here for that as I have R282 server sitting in closet, but fubaring it is a bridge too far for me and others I would guess. I am not confident enough to not mess things up

I can't force anyone.
but on Gigabyte with BMCWebGUI you can go back to stock BIOS without a working CPU.
