Congrats on your new server!

Here's the spec sheet for your R610: https://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/pedge/en/server-poweredge-r610-specs-en.pdf

The PERC 6 is a pretty old card. What you'd want is the PERC H200. They're also pretty cheap used, but make sure you purchase from a US-based seller (assuming you're from the US). The PERC H200 would allow you to connect up to 8 SATA/SAS drives, and more with an expander or backplane that supports SAS expansion (which IIRC the R610 backplanes don't).

Here's an eBay search of sold listings for the H200: Dell PERC H200

The cable you linked is a SAS SFF-8087 to SFF-8484 cable. The SFF-8484 end is the wide connector that looks like a big SATA connector. Which end goes into your backplane?

It looks like your backplane is using SAS SFF-8087 connectors. These are common in SAS2 HBA cards and backplanes.

Since your R610 is fairly old, Dell probably provisioned them with the SAS SFF-8087 to SFF-8484 cables so customers can use their old SAS HBAs, like the PERC 6. If I were you I’d probably purchase a H200 or H300 series HBA, and buy the appropriate cables. If you want to stick with a PERC 6 it should work fine. They’re just so old I completely forgot they existed until today.
