Yea I wish they did what they do with bikes in Chinese factories and just made "extra run" copies of this stuff.

I would use OpenMediaVault + SnapRAID because I don't want to spin all my hard drives to read a single file.
I'm also planning to virtualize my NAS, and do the parity building/checking at night when I'm not using my workstation.
