After reading the main site article on getting Win7/8 to work with UEFI boot I am wondering what the advantages are. One advantage is given, "One big UEFI upgrade is the ability to boot off of new devices easier." I assume this is regarding booting from a GPT disk which allows for >2.2TB boot volumes. That alone is nice if you haven't moved to or needed an SSD; my HTPC comes to mind. Are there any other standouts?

I would wait for the Motherboard OEMs to Iron out all the issues as you may have seen in Win server post.

UEFI won't boot with my Geforce GTX470, big downer
Can't for the life of me boot in straight UEFI mode with it enabled in the BIOS
I have to boot in 'Auto' mode, means fluffing about loading BIOS drivers first.

The idea is there but badly implemented (I'm finding anyway)

Other than supposedly quicker boot if you can get it to work and booting from GPT parttitions, there is little else to recommend that I can see.
