Anyone got an Adaptec 71605 controller running on windows 11 or server 2022?
On my systems if I go to standby or hibernate and wake up the driver eider crashes (BSOD) or the array is inaccessible with 100% usage shown by task manager, but the drives are doing nothing.
Windows 10 or server 2019 works just fine on the same mainboards.

Which is a problem as I have 4 of those and a 5th similar with 24 ports...

I tried
aacraid_ws08-ws12-w7-w8-sbs_x64_x86_b30617_cert.zip
aacraid_ws08-ws12-w7-w8-sbs_x64_x86_b41013_cert.zip
aacraid_ws08-ws12-ws16-w7-w8-w10-sbs_x64_b52013_cert.zip
aacraid_ws19_x64_b57001_cert.zip
aacraid_ws08-ws12-ws16-ws19-w8-w10_x64_b60001_cert.zip

drivers all the same :(
is there any newer driver that would be compatible?

Cheers
David

Adaptec/Microsemi are reliably bad for supporting their older products.
Likely you will have to upgrade to a newer raid controller if you want to run the new gen OS

Can you try the controller in another pcie slot and report if the problem reoccurs?

My experience in that regard was different:
6805 worked without problems with server 2012 to 2019
same with the 81605zq (using this in system with server 2022)

I have tried the controller on two completely different mainboards one super micro and an other Intel,
do you think than its still worth a try to also try other slots on those boards?

the issue is really only with waking up from hibernation, standby, other than that the drivers make no issues.
Does your system with the 81605zq handles waking up from hibernation, standby fine?

It's in a server which runs 24/7, I have never tested it :D

When you use google with a german ip adress and "Adaptec 71605" you will end up on https://www.mikrocontroller.net/topic/476914 where a user had a similar problem like you have and it was resolved by swapping the pcie slots of the controller with the gpu.
So yes, I would try another pcie slot, in the worst case it won't make any difference.

This is a long shot, but if the server is currently running on the bare metal you can add some virtualisation in between to abstract away the card from Windows and just pass a VirtIO disk to it.

So I got the LSI 9362 and it seams working well, windows 11 /server 2022 works fine, 4k drives seam to work as well.
But I only got this Intel raid web console 2 to control it, and its not cool, no smart info, etc :(
the WRC3 is even worse
Searching on broadcoms website did not yeald any better software but the search there is catastrophic :(

So the question to all the experts whats the best software to manage this controller under windows preferably with a UI.

Cheers

Broadcom has their own management software (MegaRAID Storage Manager)

I'm not sure what happened but even google points to a bunch of broadcom links that return 404. Either they mesed up their content management system or broadcom really tries to move their customerbase to the new (and expensive) tri mode controllers...

That's intuitive... You have to select something (for the 9361-8i it's "legacy product") in product group AND family so that the input field work...

Oh yeah, I'm with you a heavenly website to navigate to find things, you do get a little used to its quirks but like going to the dentist do as a last resort
