Hi, I encountered and successfully resolved the issue with my home printer, Brother MFC-3770CDW toners, and wanted to share it with the community/internet in case someone has this specific issue and find this post.
The issue as this: one day, the printer says you're out of a certain toner color, let's say the black one. You get a new black toner replacement (original or compatible) one, open the printer, swap the black toner, close the lid, and ... drumroll.. get an error on the printer saying "No toner". If you keep looking, you may find that YELLOW or CYAN toners are "not present". Why is this happening?
The issue is this: Each toner on 3770C has a small chip, and behind every chip is a tiny watch battery. These batteries obviously die over time, but they are only in play once you open the printer cover. If you're a home user like me, it might be once every few years, especially if you don't do many color prints.
The solution is: There is a battery behind the brass/gold connector on the ink cartridge. The replacement battery is an AGO/LR521 or 379. They are the same thing.
Here's a video on how to replace these.
