The whole concept of watching a video of a rover landing on another planet in quality that, 30 years ago, your average TV movie could not achieve, in mind-blowing. I am all giddy about it.

I dont think this exciting at all. Just landing there costs 2.5Bln US$. Without any scientific use. If you realize the mission included 20% of spare parts from older missions, then .... Well. But they are waiting 90min for a picture while they could see everything in ‘realtime’ if money was spend more wisely. Now the EU mission to bring back any ground probes from the Mars, costing another 2Bln (per today), will go in 2027/28. Without this mission succeeding there is no scientific outcome from the current mission.

..... without being travelling in speed of light, humanity will never be able to live somewhere else.
