So, I have seen this issue on both R740 and R750. I understand the reason but can't find a work around. I'm using a supermicro dual nvme adapter and bifurcating the pci slot to x4. The dell bios will kick back that there's a pcie link training issue and essentially shit the bed. Anyone have thoughts on how to handle or bypass the issue? The drives will not be bootable, they just need to be exposed to the OS.

Berate for my bad memory. On my R730xd when I had a PCIe Perc connected to the Flex Bay I had to switch a setting in the BIOS to continue on error or something along those lines. I also am running the same NVME adapter and never changed the setting back so I can't speak with certainty that this will fix it.

R730 I didn't have any issues. I see where your going but the 740 and 750 actually disable the device

Well that sucks, I wonder if Dell is going to force you into their NVME adapter. Sorry I could not be of more help. Good luck
