Should I get a 970 Evo Plus or a 980 Pro as a boot/scratch drive? Both 1TB and i'll be using it on a Crosshair VIII Dark Hero.

For boot use then whatever is cheaper , even for scratch. Given the deals I see on 970 evo plus I wound say save the $$

^ this, if you need a higher endurance SSD for scratch/cache I'd look at the Corsair MP510.
Its cheaper by about $50, about the same speed but is rated for 1,700 TBW compared to the 600TBW of either of the Samsung 1TB models.

Cool, i'll move the 1TB 970 Evo Plus I have now to a boot drive and use the 2TB one I bought as game drive.
