We just did a benchmark here on the office for some heavy write tasks with PostgreSQL. Some of the developers had cheap consumer based SSD's which could only do 350 iops while the Intel S3500 did 4500 iops on the same hardware. A task that took 1 minute, suddenly took 15 minutes on those SSD's.
