Swapped out my 5930K in my desktop for a E5-1620 V3 I had sitting around, booted up req. some BIOS changes (it had some custom settings), and then boot into Win7, req. reboot... start again.

Any reason my 2nd monitor would stop displaying?

The monitor says it's not getting a signal. Windows says I can change settings for this monitor (resolution, etc)... But... I can't see anything on the screen how I had it, or after making any changes.

In case anyone has any ideas here's some more info:
- OS: Win7
- Mobo: MSI X99 SLI+
- CPU: E5-1650 V3
- Video: MSI Twin Frozr 270X
- Display 1: DVI -> HP ZR30w @ 2560x1600
- Display 2: HDMI -> Dell 24" 4K @ 2560x1440

It was working just fine prior to the CPU swap... anyone have any ideas before I start digging into this and spending lots of time on it :) Sounds like a stupid windows thing someone may be aware of :)

Deleted the monitor from device manager and decided to reboot again, sure enough worked :)

I'm glad you got it working, but I'm wondering the reasoning going from a hex core with the same clock speed to a quad core.

I understand the E5 can handle WAY more memory, but I have that same motherboard, so I know you can't take full advantage of all of the E5's memory capability (limited slots). They both have the same number of PCIe lanes, so I'm just curious :)

I don't need the full-power of the 5930K and had a buyer so I sold it. I'm planning to get Skylake i5 & board as I want to save even more power.

The E5-1620 is just to hold me over, and was the only v3 not in use at the moment.

Thanks for the explanation. That makes perfect sense. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious.
