Late night searching session made me find two different 60 bay chassis. They both look like expanded versions of the old Sun Fire Thumper chassis (but those only had 45 drives right?)

Quanta M4600H

Form Factor:4U Chassis
Host Interface:(4) 6Gb/s mini-SAS ports per SAS Interface Module
HDD Support:(60) 3.5" and 2.5" SASII and SATAIII hot-swappable with dual-port access. (SATA drive requires optional Active-Active MUX)
Power Supply:(2) 1400W high efficiency redundant PSUs
Weight: 80.11lb w/o drives 187.39lb w/ 60x drives

DataOn Storage DS-1660

  • Ultra Density 4U 60-bay 3.5" 6Gb/sec SAS 2.0 storage enclosure
  • Operation with either single I/O controller or dual I/O controller for redundant failover
  • Hot-pluggable I/O controller(s) and dual redundant high efficiency power/cooling (APC) modules
  • Four SFF-8088 6Gb/sec SAS 2.0 host and expansion connections per SAS I/O Controller
  • Up to 60 SAS/SATA HDDs or 240TB capacity (using 4.0TB SAS/SATA HDD)
  • Modular design increases product configuration flexibility
  • SAS Point-to-point connectivity isolates drive failures, increasing reliability and fault tolerance, and improving performance
  • SAS daisy-chain expansion up to four DNS-1660 JBODs via SFF-8088 SAS cables
  • Multiple Drive partitioning/split-bus zoning modes

I figured we may as well start making a thread for this type of enclosure so we can search for deals on them. If you look at the two designs, there is an extra centerline brace on the DataON Storage one which makes me think two different ODMs.

Proware EPICa EP-4643J/JD-S6S6

60 or 64 drives in this one.

64 hot-swappable drive bays in a rackmount 4U chassis
  • Simultaneously support SAS2 or SATA3 disk
  • Single or dual SAS2 JBOD controller module
  • Each SAS2 JBOD controller module consist of three mini SAS (4X) port
  • Power Supply and cooling system contained in 1 module for efficient cooling
  • Two 1100W redundant hot swappable power supplies
  • Incorporates a cableless design for maximum signal integrity
  • Utilizes industry-standard SCSI Enclosure Services to monitor enclosure and disk environmental conditions

Im actually looking at something like this with 2.5" bays for future expansion at home as i retire 3.5" drives and move to a lower power setup. It would need to connect to my LSI 9280-8e. Anyone know of an affordable option?
